# Not officially registered businesses in Thailand can no more receive money via PayPal. ([Thai-ไทย](https://phuket.taxi/content/perma?id=971 "บทความภาษาไทย - Article in Thai")) Now everyone living in or outside Thailand and running a Thai PayPal Account needs to register a business Account to receive funds via PayPal. The registration requires that also an official business gets registered with DBD. Hopefully, that change will inspire ALL Thai businesses - private or professional to register now with DBD and do the same procedures as all already registered companies - paying Taxes and Social Security, etc. NOT registered and your money will be probably blocked on Paypal. That happened already actually to some NGO organizations which are not registered in Thailand but where their staff had set up a Thai PayPal Account because the staff lives here. No way to access that money until the organization or company gets registered - Frozen Accounts! - Be aware of that major change!  ## 1. PayPal Thailand Relaunch Agreements ### Here is what PayPal wrote: Next, to continue using your account, provide some missing info before **February 18, 2022**, including. #### **Proof of business** * Thailand business registration document with a 13-digit registration number * A utility bill, tax document, credit card or bank statement from the past 6 months that shows the business address #### **Proof of identity** * Thailand national ID for Thai citizens * Passport or country ID for non-Thai citizens * Utility bill, phone bill, or bank statement from the past 12 months that shows the individual’s address Proof of identity is required for the primary account user, executives, authorized account users, and all company shareholders with 25% or more ownership in the business. We’ll also provide an authorization letter for you to complete, sign, and upload with your affixed company letterhead or stamp. This gives permission for your authorized users to access the account. ## 2. What information and documents is PayPal asking for?  ## 3. Business Type After you agreed, you can choose the business type  Press get started to continue  ## 4. Is your company a Head Office or a Branch  In the next steps, they will ask for information and documents  You need to enter some required information and documents which verifies that information  ## 5. 13 Digit Business Registration Number (DBD) Fill in the 13 Digit Business registration number. If you haven’t one stop here and register your business with DBD.  ## 6. Physical Company Address All companies need a physical address, you will later be asked to upload documents to verify that address.  ## 7. Authorized Person The person which is authorized to move funds and add additional users is required to fill in his information.  ## 8. Physical Person’s Address He has to fill in his complete and correct address data. Keep in mind that all information - Names and Birthdates, as well as your addresses, need to get verified with documents! It is recommended to fill in the exact same spelling of Names and Addresses used in the documents which you need to upload in a later step.  ## 9. High-Level Strategic Decision Maker Always check if your company name and your own Name match the one in the official papers and work permits (if foreigners)!  ## 10. Authorized Representative While the first person asked for was the “high-level strategic decisions” maker the next one is for the one who is officially registered to sign on behalf of the company - It might be the same person. Check your DBD company papers! If you haven’t got those register your company with DBD to receive your 13 digit number and the additional required information.  ## 11. Shareholder with more than 25% Anyone with more than 25% shares, capital, or voting rights needs to be entered in the next step, you can enter even more shareholders. For each Person, you enter all information has to be entered in the correct spelling as on the ID-Card or Passport and their Addresses need again be verified via real documents.  ## 12. More Shareholders If some information is missing the system will prompt you to enter those or to correct entries.  ## 13. Correct spellings as mentioned in official documents Especially when your current Account holder's name does NOT match the Name on the ID-Card (i.e.missing a Middle name etc.) you need to correct that mistake first.  ## 14. Uploading Shareholder Documents The same information needs to be provided for each shareholder verified by uploading documents.  ## 15. Uploading Company Registration Papers Your company papers need to get uploaded to verify your 13 digit Company Registration Number and the ones who are authorized to sign in the name of the company.  ## 16. Uploading more documents to verify the information If any information or any document is still needed to verify your entered information you will be asked to do so.  ## 17. ID-Card, Passport, Company Papers (DBD) For proof of identity, you need to enter your Full Legal Name as it is written on your ID-Card or Passport.  ## 18. Only 5MB Upload each file If your PDF or JPG file is too big (more than 5 MB each) you either sit it up or shrink it by suing i.e. online services like [https://ilovepdf.com](https://ilovepdf.com "I love PDF") or [https://tinypng.com](https://tinypng.com "Tiny PNG").  ## 19. Correcting your Name - it must match your official papers! To make changes to your name or to correct it fill out the extra form and verify your information with uploaded documents.  ## 20. Missing Documents The new system will constantly check your information and if it thinks that something is still missing it will let you know and you can’t proceed until those Missing documents had been added successfully.  ## 21. Longer Loading Times - Wait! Sometimes the verification process might take a bit longer and you will see the following rotating circle-icon. You can still read your Name, Company Name, and the 13 digit number! Check if that matches the information of the DBD documents and your ID-Card/ Passport.  ## 22. Proof of Address - Documents to be uploaded Check the exact address information of your home address and the one of your registered company.  ## 23. Full Names on Bills ### Bills need to carry names like on official papers For the Proof of addresses of your personal Home and your company, you will need to upload i.e. bank statement, credit card statement, phone, electricity, water bills, tax IDs for each address separately.  ## 24. If the primary account holder is the sole owner of the company, he or she may sign the letter. > > Please remember to attach respective identification as well. ## 25. Final waiting time of 2-4 business days Finally, you need to wait 2-4 business days.  --- ## 26. PayPal’s First Response ### PayPal-Team in Bangkok responded after 2 days Here are their responses: 1. **DBD Company Papers have to be no older than 6 months!** ##  In our example case, we had uploaded the first page (Cover-page - DBD) and the following page which lists all kinds of businesses this company is allowed to run under this registration. The DBD document we had uploaded was already 1 year old. It is necessary to upload a DBD company registration that isn’t older than 6 months. 2. **ALL uploaded documents (i.e. bills) need to carry** the full company and/or **the full personal name** including all names **as they appear in the passport**! It can be that also the signature has to be with all three names (unsure until now).\  3. **The Authorization Letter has to be signed by 2 different people!** 1. the PayPal account holder 2. the business chairperson, CEO, CFO, or Managing Director 3. It seems that a General Manager does not get accepted even he/she is listed as the one authorized to sign in the DBD Papers, a shareholder of the company (Owner), and also listed in his work permit as the one allowed to sign and interact on behalf of the company!\  ## 27. Important Reminders and Checks Be aware that you need 2 people signing the letter, as usual, you are NOT the sole owner of the company in cases it is a Partnership, or Company Limited, etc. Don’t forget to fill out the part BELOW for your signature. That easily gets forgotten as no lines to fill in something are provided here! Don’t forget the company stamp! Keep in mind that electronic signatures, signatures as images that get filled in won’t get accepted and that you need to attach in the same PDF file all respective identifications as well. i.e. * ID-Cards, Passports with Images and Full Name and ID-Card/Passport Numbers * Work permit that states that your position (if a foreigner) in the company * First Page company papers that name the full name of the company, its registration number, address of the head office, and the individual(s) to act for and on behalf of the company --- ## 28. to be continued … please check back in some days.
